Pisum sativum

A classic Ohio spring crop. Peas hate July. Get them in as soon as the garden thaws.

How to grow it

Sow 1 in. deep. A simple fence or netting keeps vines off mud. Harvest shelling peas when pods are plump; eat the same day. Lincoln and Green Arrow handle Ohio springs. A late-July sowing can make a fall crop in milder falls.
