How to grow it

Plant in warm soil. Harvest at 6–8 in. every other day. Squash vine borer hits in late June—wrap lower stems, use row cover until bloom, or grow a midsummer sowing that misses the first flight. Hand-pollinate if June is cool and bees are scarce.
