Rosemary

Salvia rosmarinus

Not reliably hardy in most of Ohio. Grow in a pot and bring it into a bright, cool window before frost.

When to plant in Ohio
Plant starts in May; overwinter indoors in most of Ohio
Harvest window
June through October outdoors
Days to maturity
Tender perennial; treat as annual outdoors north of 6b
Spacing
18 in. or a 12 in. pot
Light
Full sun

How to grow it

Use a gritty mix and let it dry slightly between waterings. Arp and Hill Hardy are the toughest if you want to try the ground in southern Ohio with heavy winter mulch. Indoors, give the brightest window you have and do not overwater.
